The grant will provide more resources to reduce risk factors for students in the Lehigh Valley.

Allentown, PA (November 29, 2022) – Communities in Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania (CISEasternPA), an agency that removes the nonacademic barriers that keep students from achieving academically and in life, recently learned that they would be receiving a gift of $400,000. Senator Pat Browne shared this news while gathering with donors, board members, and agency professionals on Thursday, November 10.

These funds will aid and support CISEasternPA site professionals’ work in nearly 40 schools in Lehigh, Northampton, and Berks counties. CISEasternPA site professionals build relationships with students by providing one-on-one case management and social-emotional learning opportunities. They also break down barriers preventing student success by connecting students and families to basic needs as well as physical and mental health resources; and advocating for academic and attendance interventions while working collaboratively inside schools.

As Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman, Senator Browne managed to secure the allotment out of the 2022-23 state budget.

“The future strength and prosperity of our state and country will rely on the preparedness of the next generation to meet the challenges of tomorrow,” Senator Browne said. “For over 20 years, Communities In Schools has been taking a personalized approach to ensure that every student can realize their potential. I am proud of our partnership and to deliver these funds to further their important mission.”
