Communal art project to be displayed at local library

EASTON, Pa.  – National Color Day is known for encouraging people to observe and appreciate the colors around them. But today, area children took the colorful holiday to a new level and celebrated by adding even more color to the world while visiting Crayola Experience in downtown Easton.

The family destination that brings color and creativity to life encouraged kids to use their imagination to create new colors during a National Color Day public event in The Crayola Store this morning. The event included book readings of the newly released children’s picture book Crayola: Ellie’s Crayon Adventure with author Sarah Glenn Marsh.

Inspired by the book, kids imagined and created their own new color and built a communal art project—with a little the help from the magical Color Catcher character in Ellie’s adventure. They also participate in a Color Scavenger Hunt through the 4,000 sq. ft. Crayola Store, complete with clues, puzzle solving, and prizes.

The Color Catcher art project featuring the new colors the kids dreamed up will be on exhibit at the Easton Area Public Library for Children’s Book Week, Nov. 7-13. In addition, Crayola and publishing house Running Press Kids is donating copies of Crayola: Ellie’s Crayon Adventure and Crayola: Follow That Line! children’s books to each of the public libraries in Northampton and Monroe counties for their book collections.

Crayola: Ellie’s Crayon Adventure, is about a young girl who dreams of colors no one had ever seen. Then during a school visit to the Crayola Factory, Ellie has a mishap with a wonderous outcome—she creates a new color. The picture book, geared to children ages 4-8, is written by Sarah Glenn Marsh and illustrated by Tiffany Rose.
