Concert review and photo By: Joe Scrizzi
As I sit here and write, one of the main things that keeps going on over in my mind is, very thankful that Live Outdoor Concerts are back and Musikfest is in full swing!
Tonight, Sam Hunt played for a packed house at the Wind Creek Steel Stage.
Jackie Lee from Tennessee opened with Believe.
He definitely formed connection with the crowd as he spoke of hardships, family and everything in between. Tonight’s concert in Bethlehem marked his first show in 2.5 years!
Part way through his set, he made an announcement to bring out a special guest. His brother joined him for a duet of Leave the Light On. Jackie has been writing songs in Nashville for 12 years.
As the stage went black and the crowds filled the seats, you knew the main show was about to begin!
Sam opened with Hard to Forget from his album Southside. Few verses in, everyone was standing, singing and swaying.
He continued to belt out hit after hit with Kinfolk, We Were Young Once and Leave the Light On.
As I looked around fans were dancing in the aisles, the pit in front of the stage, and everywhere there was open space. It was a beautiful sight to see!
House Party from his album Montevallo, rounded out this high energy set, before taking a seat and playing some ballads. During this time, he spoke of life at home, growing up, hanging out with his friends, life getting back in the swing of things. I can tell that Sam loved being on stage with every song he played, he’s quite the performer to say the least! Each song told a story, and he even came into the crowd for selfies and dancing!
BAM……just like that the crowd sparked back to life with Small Town Girl from 2013. Once again fans were on their feet and dancing all around. People all around me reached out talked, clapped, and sang word for word to every song, quite the sight to see and experience!
Out of nowhere a massive confetti blast covered the entire area and looked like snow cascading down over all of us.
Sam Hunt show was coming to an end oh, the lights went out and the crowd roared for an encore, Sam responded with Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s & Body Like a Backroad, both off his album Southside.
My Final Notes:
I’d like to personally Thank All of the ArtsQuest Staff and Musikfest Volunteers for their hard work and attention to detail in every phase of this year’s Festival!
