City of Allentown 2020 Real Estate Tax, 2021 Business License renewal and 2021 Rental Registration payments are due Thursday, December 31, 2020.
Allentown’s Department of Finance has some tips and suggestions for anyone planning to make those payments between now and the end of the year.
- If you are coming into City Hall to make your payment in person, please have all your bills ready. If you do not have them, please contact the appropriate department for copies prior to your arrival.
- In-person payments can be accepted until 4:00 p.m.
- To limit crowding in our lobbies, we suggest using the yellow payment drop box located outside the main entrance to City Hall. This payment box is located on N. Penn St, the road that separates City Hall from the Lehigh County Courthouse. Please seal your bill(s) along with your check/money order in an envelope and drop it in that box. Please do not put cash in that box. Payments placed in this box do not require postage.
- If you plan on mailing your payment, please make sure it is postmarked on or before 12/31/2020. City Real Estate Tax payments that are postmarked after 12/31 cannot be accepted and will be returned to the sender.
- If you were unable to have your payment postmarked 12/31, you can place your check, dated 12/31/2020, in the payment drop box explained above, any time before Monday, January 4, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. Payments collected this way, for City bills that were due 12/31/2020, will be considered on-time.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed Senate Bill 841 in April. Among other things, the bill provided flexibility on property tax deadlines. The measure allowed taxing districts to waive late fees and penalties for real estate taxes paid by December 31, 2020.
