(ALLENTOWN, PA) – The Allentown Rescue Mission’s “I AM” billboard campaign highlights the different members of the community that make up the Allentown Rescue Mission. For the holidays, the Allentown Rescue Mission will shift its focus to within. The holiday billboards will showcase our family of program men, staff and Clean Team employees.

Although many of the Allentown Rescue Mission men don’t have traditional families to spend the holidays with, they are not alone. Their family in their time of need are the Allentown Rescue Mission staff and each other. This holiday season, they ate a big thanksgiving dinner, they will open Christmas presents, and they will receive the new year with enthusiasm. Thanks to the community’s generous support, the Allentown Rescue Mission can be a family to hundreds of homeless men throughout the year and can bring hope to those in need.

For over a hundred years, the Allentown Rescue Mission has worked to get homeless men off the streets and into permanent homes and jobs. The staff of the Allentown Rescue Mission is committed to helping these men in need, and they’re not alone. They are supported by members of the community who donate generously. The staff and the community work hard because they know the importance of helping each other and giving people a second chance.

The Allentown Rescue Mission takes a comprehensive approach to reintegrating homeless men back into society. It looks at the individual needs of the men. It provides shelter, meals, medical care, social services, coaching, workforce development classes, faith-based education, and help to find affordable housing to hundreds of homeless men every year. By the time the men are ready to leave the Allentown Rescue Mission, many have found long-term housing, steady work, and reconnected with their families. Thanks to the community’s support, the future is bright for the men of the Allentown Rescue Mission.

While driving around Allentown, you will be able to put a face to these men and their stories when you see their billboards. The Allentown Rescue Mission billboards can be found on:

The Allentown Rescue Mission has been helping rescue, rehabilitate, and restore men to their community. Not only does the Mission change the lives of the men that come and stay, but it also changes the lives of their employees and volunteers. These people were chosen for the Allentown Rescue Mission billboards because they truly represent the Allentown Rescue Mission and the work they do in order to rescue, rehabilitate, and restore men into the community. Check out their stories at www.allentownrescuemission.org.

The Allentown Rescue Mission, a 501c3, 123 bed non-profit homeless shelter has been providing shelter for homeless men since 1900. In addition to emergency shelter services (365 days a year), the Mission offers a residential life skills program, and transitional employment on the Clean Team that’s available for hire to the community. The Clean Team pays the men above PA state minimum – helping them save a nest egg to transition back into the community. The Mission provides shelter services for over 946 men per year, and serves over 42,000 meals a year to men in need.
