BETHLEHEM, PA—Indie act Guided by Voices, Celtic and world group Scythian and Musikfest favorites Garden State Radio and Igor & The Red Elvises are among the five new shows announced for the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling. Tickets for the shows go on sale Jan. 7, noon, to ArtsQuest Members and Jan. 10, 10 a.m., to the public at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
On April 24, 7:30 p.m., Guided by Voices makes its first appearance at the Musikfest Café. Led by Robert Pollard, one of the greatest songwriters of our era, the group was formed in the early 1980s in Ohio and influenced by a host of sounds ranging from garage rock to post-punk. Among the band’s many recordings are “Space Gun,” “Under the Bushes,” “Do the Collapse,” “Sweating the Plague” and “Vampire on Titus.”
