Each year the Emmaus Main Street Partners and the Borough of Emmaus coordinate the long-time tradition of the tree lighting at the heart of town. On the first Saturday of each December, Dec 7, 2019, the community gathers together for the annual lighting of the beautiful tree by the Mayor! Over the years the event has grown and continues to attract young and old, new and seasoned attendees, Emmaus residents and visitors, to celebrate the start of the holiday season!
There are many events throughout the borough at local businesses and community organizations like Emmaus Public Library, Emmaus Historical Society, and more, who add even more to the day and festivities.
Back by popular demand, the Cheers Trail, sponsored in 2019 by SERVPRO of Western Lehigh County, returns in full force with 13 locations on the traditional trail, this year dubbed the red trail. On this trail running from 12-5pm, within walking distance from the Triangle, are Emmaus Historical Society, Altitude Marketing, Yergey Brewing, Triple Sun Spirits, House Splendid, Emmaus Jewel Shop, South Mountain Cycle & Café, Kleckner & Sons Appliances, Khineder Creations, Let’s Play Books Bookstore, Emmaus Run Inn, Total Health & Sport Care, and Lifestyle Barbershop. Adding to the fun are some businesses who are Bonus Bite Stops: including Emmaus Historical Society, David’s Italian Market, Armetta’s, and Art BaYouMiGallery! Passports are available for $20 through Emmaus Main Street Partners Facebook page. In addition to this traditional trail, we wanted to show some love and extend the holiday spirit to our businesses on the west side of town so we have added, for the first time, a SECOND trail, the green trail! This will include East Penn Diner, The Mix Bartending School, the Barn (of the House & Barn), Laura’s Custom Framing & Fine Art, Don Juan Mex Grill, Holistic Hands Spa, Living Room Yoga, and Green Earth Marketplace! Bonus bites will include the Barn and Green Earth Marketplace. Passports for the green trail are also on the Emmaus Main Street Partners Facebook page and are only $10. Pick up for both trails will be from 10am-2pm on Saturday December 7 on the Triangle. Guests will receive their passport with the list and map of businesses, a lanyard, and a complimentary 2019 Cheers Trail cup from which to sample drinks.
Of course there are activities for the kids all day long as well! The Candy Cane Lane trail, sponsored in 2019 by QNB and East Penn Manufacturing, features a passport of five historic sites and partners around the Borough who will be offering crafts from 12-4pm including Emmaus Historical Society, 1803 House, Knauss Homestead, Emmaus Public Library, and the Shelter House. You can find passports for FREE on Emmaus Main Street Partner’s Facebook page or at any of the participating sites! Join us at 4:30pm on the Triangle then to decorate and light the kids Christmas tree!
