In a collaborative effort with the Fraternal Order of Police, Queen City Lodge #10, effective November 1, 2019, the Allentown Police Department will implement “No Shave November” and “No Shave December.” The purpose of this program is to enable Allentown Police Officers to give back to the community, in which they serve, by making charitable donations to deserving organizations and groups of people within the City of Allentown. Officers will donate money in order to forgo the department policy limiting facial hair.
The donations made in November will support APD’s annual “Shop With A Cop” program benefiting the families of the Sixth Street Shelter. That event will occur the week of December 16, 2019. The December donations will benefit those affected by homelessness in the City of Allentown as determined by the Fraternal Order of Police. Many of APD’s support staff also participate in this fundraiser and help to make our “Shop With A Cop” event possible.
The Paramedics of the City of Allentown’s EMS Department will also be participating in “No Shave November” and their donations from the months of November and December will be used to support efforts to end pediatric cancer.
Anyone who is interested in supporting the efforts of APD’s “No Shave November,” can submit donations to the Chief’s Office (listed above). Donations should be made payable to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #10 and should include the notation, “No Shave November.”
