PBS39 to Broadcast Live Allentown Mayoral Debate

This debate, featuring the candidates running for mayor of Allentown, will air at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 14.

 

Bethlehem, PA. – October 9, 2019 – On Monday, October 14, PBS39, in partnership with The Morning Call, will broadcast a live debate featuring the candidates running for mayor of Allentown. This debate is part of PBS39’s Who Will Lead? series, which will continue through the November 2020 election cycle.

PBS39 Host Monica Evans will moderate this debate alongside Professor of Political Science and Director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, Dr. Christopher Borick, and reporter for The Morning Call, Andrew Wagaman. This live debate will feature candidates Ray O’Connell (D) (Incumbent) and Tim Ramos (R).

About Monica Evans
PBS39 Executive Producer and Host Monica Evans has more than three decades of broadcast experience. Before joining the team at PBS39, Evans spent 11 years as a senior reporter for the FOX affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri. Previously, she worked as a court and crime reporter for the ABC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, an arts and entertainment reporter for the FOX affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut and a talk show host/producer for the NBC affiliate in Hartford. Evans has a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Central Connecticut State University.

About Andrew Wagaman
Andrew Wagaman covers Allentown for The Morning Call. He previously reported on Lehigh Valley business and industry, as well as the East Penn area. Wagaman grew up in Schnecksville and graduated from the University of Missouri. Before returning to the Lehigh Valley, Wagaman worked as a metro reporter for the Reading Eagle.

About Dr. Christopher Borick
Dr. Christopher Borick, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, is a nationally recognized public opinion researcher who has conducted more than 300 large-scale public opinion surveys. The results of these surveys have appeared in numerous publications including Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. Borick has also provided analysis for the BBC, National Public Radio, PBS, MSNBC, CBS News and NBC Nightly News. Borick earned his undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University. He completed his doctoral work at The State University of New York at Binghamton in the area of public policy analysis.
