Throughout the 2019-2020 school year, Parkland and Freedom High Schools will hold numerous Gold Out games at various sporting events.

ALLENTOWN, PA, SEPTEMBER 4, 2019 – Parkland High School and Freedom High School are coming together for a year-long fundraiser to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley (PCFLV). Throughout the year at various sporting events, both schools will sell gold t-shirts and encourage students to create a Gold Out at different games/matches. The shirts feature both school logos.

The first event is the Parkland/Freedom football game on September 6th at 7 p.m. at Orefield Middle School. At this game, local pediatric cancer kids will serve as honorary team captains and join the high school team captains on the field for the coin toss.

Other sports which will feature Gold Out events include field hockey (9/12); boy’s basketball (1/7); wrestling (1/11); swimming (1/21); girl’s lacrosse (3/24); boy’s volleyball (3/25); and softball (4/16). These dates are tentative; please confirm via the school websites. The schools also plan to hold additional events where the students and faculties will “compete.”

“We are so proud of these students for rallying together for local kids with cancer,” said Michelle Zenie, Executive Director at PCFLV. “To commit to a year-long campaign is a true sign that these teens want to help raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer.”
