Journalist Brittany Sweeney will work with Alvernia University communications students during the fall and spring semesters.
Bethlehem, PA. – September 4, 2019 – PBS39 Reporter Brittany Sweeney will serve as an “expert in residence” with the communications program at Alvernia University during the 2019-20 academic year.
“It is important to educate the next generation of professionals in our industry,” Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of PBS39 said. “We are proud to support Brittany in this important partnership with Alvernia University and we will continue to build relationships with institutions of higher learning in our community.”
This program gives students an opportunity to gain real-world experience and perspective. Sweeney will be working with select students and staff on a variety of projects. She will also play a vital role in two educational events in both the fall and spring semesters. There will also be opportunities for select students to shadow Sweeney.
“I would not be where I am today without the help and guidance of others throughout my career,” Sweeney said. “The field of communications is constantly changing. I am excited to share my experiences while also learning from the students.”
Brittany Sweeney is passionate about telling stories in her home state of Pennsylvania. She currently serves as the Berks County reporter for PBS39 News Tonight. During her time at PBS39, Sweeney has also anchored live newscasts. She recently earned a Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy® Award nomination for her role in PBS39’s live coverage of the 116th Congress swearing-in. Sweeney grew up in the Philadelphia area and graduated from Temple University.
