The final Community Collaboration Meeting of the Allentown Vision 2030 planning process is set for Thursday, September 12 from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus Auditorium in Center City Allentown.
Allentown Vision 2030 – Your City, Your Voice! will be the city’s new Comprehensive and Economic Development Plan that will chart a path for inclusive, equitable growth over the next 10 years. The plan will address the topics of housing, workforce development, economic opportunity, social equity, environment and conservation, community development, transportation, land use, historic preservation, open space, and a range of other areas that affect the quality of life and vibrancy of the city of Allentown.
The September 12 Community Collaboration Meeting is the culmination of the Allentown Vision 2030 community planning process. City staff, along with the plan consultant team, will be presenting the draft of the Allentown Vision 2030 Comprehensive and Economic Development Plan.
“Allentown Vision 2030 is truly a community plan,” said Mayor Ray O’Connell. “Some 2,000 of our Allentown community members have participated in the planning process and shared their voices to create this draft plan. We hope a large crowd will come out on September 12 to see the great work based on a collective vision for Allentown’s future.”
The meeting will feature a presentation from city staff and the consultant team on the draft plan. Attendees are invited to engage in a discussion and provide initial feedback on the plan.

Community engagement and empowerment is the highest priority for Allentown Vision 2030. The Bureau of Planning & Zoning wants to engage with all residents across the city. Following the September 12 Community Collaboration Meeting, Allentown Vision 2030 will release the full draft plan on Monday, September 16 at www.AllentownVision2030.org for the required 45-day public comment period.
Hard copies of the draft Allentown Vision 2030 Plan will be available at the Community Engagement Hub open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. and located at 33 N 6th St (corner of 6th and Linden streets) in downtown Allentown.
Hard copies of the draft plan will also be available upon request by visiting the Bureau of Planning & Zoning counter located on the 4th Floor of Allentown City Hall (435 Hamilton St, Allentown PA 18101). Beginning on Monday, September 16, the public can submit comments via an online form available at www.AllentownVision2030.org and via paper forms available at the Allentown Vision 2030 Community Engagement Hub and Allentown City Hall.
The public comment period closes on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Upon the conclusion of the public comment period, city staff will review and respond to all public comments. A final draft of the Allentown Vision 2030 Comprehensive and Economic Development Plan is expected to be brought to Allentown City Council for adoption in late 2019.
The City of Allentown has engaged the consultant teams of Fourth Economy, evolveEA and Faces International in an innovative approach to create a plan that reflects the community’s priorities and provides a clear and achievable implementation strategy.
