McClure building momentum in race against Ryan Mackenzie
Local elected officials and labor leaders from across the Lehigh Valley and Carbon County are endorsing Democratic County Executive Lamont McClure against Republican Ryan Mackenzie to represent Pennsylvania’s Seventh Congressional District.
“Lamont McClure has spent his life fighting for working families in the Lehigh Valley and we’re going to fight for him to win this race,” said Labor Leader James Irwin. “While Washington has made our lives harder, Lamont is fighting for us.”
- Rocky Ahner, Carbon County Commissioner
- Ken Brown, Easton City Councilman
- Robert Donchez, Former Mayor of Bethlehem
- Judy Haldeman, Northampton Borough Councilwoman
- James Irwin, Lehigh Valley Labor Leader
- Kelly Keegan, Northampton County Commissioner
- Susan Lawless, Hanover Twp. Board of Supervisors Chairman
- Bill McGee, Former Building Trades Chair
- Frank Pintabone, Easton County Councilman
- Glenn Reibman, Former Northampton County Executive
The endorsements come from across the district as McClure, who announced his campaign at the end of February, is building momentum to flip the seat, a top target for Democrats in 2026.
“Democrats have to perform better in Carbon County to win back this seat,” said Carbon County Commissioner Rocky Ahner. “Lamont was raised right here in Weatherly. He understands the challenges facing our community and he’s the best voice to represent us in Washington. Performing better in Carbon will make the difference in this race.”
Lamont McClure began his career fighting for workers poisoned by asbestos. As County Executive, he worked to support 1,600 small businesses through the pandemic and cut property taxes by almost 10 percent. He’s the only Democrat challenging incumbent Republican Ryan Mackenzie.
“I’m proud to have support from Democratic leaders across the district,” McClure said. “We’re building a coalition to take back this seat and fight for the workers and families of PA-07.”
