In an effort to reduce the number of identity theft victims in the 187th Legislative District, especially among older residents, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to host a scam seminar on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Parkland Community Library.
The free event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the library, located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in Allentown. Light refreshments will be served.
“Seniors are frequent targets of these unscrupulous scammers, who are always coming up with new ways to steal their money,” said Mackenzie. “Area seniors are encouraged to join us and learn how to avoid becoming a scam victim.”
The seminar will be led by Dave Shallcross, director of senior protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Topics to be covered at the event include what to do if one becomes a victim of identity theft, tips on how to protect personal information online and in everyday interactions, and guidelines on how to spot scams intended to steal one’s identity.
Reservations are required for this event and can be made by calling 610-760-7082 or by registering online at www.RepMackenzie.com/events.
