Community Bike Rodeo Offers Bike-loads of Fun and Safety Info for Families

Stroudsburg, PA — September  2024 — Youth Infusion, Inc., in collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of the Poconos – Daybreak and Stroud Recreation, is excited to host the Community Bike Rodeo, an engaging event focused on promoting bike safety and community connection. The event will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Stroudsburg High School from 11:00am-2:00pm, and is designed to offer young riders a fun and educational experience while bringing families together.

The collaboration between Youth Infusion, Kiwanis Club of the Poconos – Daybreak, and Stroud Recreation highlights the power of local organizations working together to provide opportunities that benefit the community. “This partnership allows us to offer a comprehensive, enriching experience for local youth that teaches them not only how to ride safely but also how to be confident and active members of the community,” said Elika Almeida, Co-founder and Executive Director at Youth Infusion, Inc.

The Bike Rodeo will feature a variety of interactive stations designed to teach essential bike safety skills:

  • Bike & Helmet Check: Certified staff will ensure that bikes and helmets meet safety
  • Helmet Decorating: Kids can personalize their helmets with creative
  • Figure 8: Riders will practice control and balance by navigating figure-eight
  • Weaving/Maneuvering: This station will help young riders improve their steering and control through a series of cones.
  • Slow Race: A fun competition to see who can ride the slowest without falling, teaching balance and patience.
  • Emergency Stop/Stop on a Dime: Riders will learn how to make quick, controlled stops, an essential safety skill.
  • Bean Bag/Newspaper Delivery: Riders will practice delivering objects while riding, improving their ability to multitask and stay focused.
  • Bike Rodeo Parade: At the end of the event, participants can show off their skills and creativity in a parade featuring their bikes, scooters, skateboards, and helmet

Families are encouraged to bring their own bikes, scooters, skateboards, and helmets to join in the fun. Pre-registration for the event is encouraged, and those who pre-register will have a chance to win a Basket of Fun. There will also be an exciting opportunity to win a Pocono Family YMCA Birthday Party.

“The Kiwanis Club of the Poconos – Daybreak is always eager to support activities that benefit local children,” said Corissa Gehring, President of Kiwanis Daybreak. “This Bike Rodeo is a fantastic way to teach bike safety in a fun and interactive way, while also bringing families together.”

Stroud Recreation’s involvement emphasizes the importance of physical activity and outdoor fun.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this event, which aligns with our mission to connect our local community with recreational programming, parks and trails. Stroudsburg Borough Park, adjacent to the event, includes a walking and bike path that we look forward to highlighting with the Bike Rodeo Parade!” said Trudyann Buckley, Recreation Manager.

The event is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of local sponsors and community partners. Families are encouraged to register early to increase their chances of winning a prize and to take part in this unique opportunity to learn and have fun.
