Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania Celebrates Champions for Education: A Night of MVPs and Memorabilia

This year’s celebration features award presentations and a silent auction of consignment sports and historic items.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (August 1, 2024)—Join Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania (CIS of Eastern PA) for its Champions for Education: A Night of MVPs and Memorabilia on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DeSales University in Center Valley.

CIS of Eastern PA is partnering with Own A Piece of History Productions led by Mike Grabarits, the former president and chief academic advisor of Step By Step Learning, for the evening’s theme. Grabarits will display unique and rarely seen items from his extensive sports and historic memorabilia collection. In addition, roughly 15-20 consignment items will be available to bid on during an in-person silent auction. Step By Step Learning is an educational consulting company that works with local school districts and teachers to narrow academic gaps in childhood reading, writing and comprehension.

“We are so excited for this year’s Champions for Education event,” said CIS Eastern PA President & CEO Tim Mulligan. “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to honor our supporters who go above and beyond for this organization and the students who benefit from our services. Our evidence-based model, combined with a supportive relationship with our site professionals, is why 99% of our students remained committed to education and stayed in school.”

This event will honor some of the most active supporters who took great strides in ensuring that the students served by CIS of Eastern PA can reach their full potential. At the event, CIS of Eastern PA will present the following awards:

‒ Champions of Education Award: Kathleen and J.B. Reilly, and Denise and Bill Spence.

‒ MVP Corporate Partner Award: Olympus Corporation of the Americas.

‒ MVP Award: David Yanoshik, Joetta Clark Diggs and Bruce Link.

Additionally, Kim Capers and Jack Gross will be inducted into CIS of Eastern PA’s Leadership Circle, which acknowledges individuals who have provided transformational leadership, courage and enduring support for CIS of Eastern PA’s mission.
