Capital Blue Cross recently donated and delivered more than 300 computer monitors to Roosevelt Elementary School, which will distribute them to hundreds of area families and others who’ve requested them, including about 20 monitors for Sheridan Elementary School.
Roosevelt already has more than 175 requests for the monitors, and Communities in Schools will work with Allentown School District to distribute any remaining monitors once the requests are met.
The initiative is part of Capital’s commitment to go the extra mile to improve the well-being of harder-to-reach communities in the Lehigh Valley and Central Pennsylvania.
“We see so much of our world today through the window of computer monitors, which are gateways to the information we need to learn, live, and work,” said Susan Hubley, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Capital Blue Cross. “This donation allows access to that critical information for hundreds of students and families who sometimes struggle to gain it.”
Eleven Lehigh Valley-area labor unions, the Allentown School District facilities department, Communities in Schools, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, and Jersey Mike’s assisted Capital Blue Cross in delivering the monitors to Roosevelt Elementary.
