Review by Joe Scrizzi – Photographs by Diane Fleischman
Christmas Dream is here and that means The Wizards of Winter (WOW) were in the Lehigh Valley last night! Who are they, The Wizards of Winter have been performing since 2009 and brightening up every Christmas Season since. The band formed in response to a need in the community to provide food for the less fortunate. Giving back seemed to be in short supply, WOW was formed and comprised of members of TSO, Ted Nugent’s Band, BOC, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper Band, Guess Who and others. They have released 3 Albums thus far and their latest is entitled: The Christmas Dream!
This is the 10th Year that they performed in Easton, PA wrapping up their tour in their home area. After the Holidays, they will head to Florida for a few more shows.
Photographs by Diane FleischmanThe stage opened with the Storyteller as he glided through the cascading fog, inviting you into the snow globe, come with me on a journey. Once inside the story unfolded and rock tunes were belted out. This group had quite the presence that drew in everyone in the audience! The light show, special effects had the crowd enthralled with many standing ovations!
In between songs Scott Kelly would talk about the origins of the band from how they were formed and were members came from. I love to see and hear this and how his wife & daughter are also part of the group. It’s truly a family affair, as family members were seen throughout the night interacting with the audience.
As they started to play Let it Snow, tiny foam bubbles were shot out from both sides of the theater to create a beautiful snow effect that filled the area.
Christmas is about gifts and gifts were tossed out into the crowd in the form of colored beach balls. Everyone joined in the fun and were batting them around. People were seen leaving with beach balls and reminiscing about last night’s show!
Ending the first set, Scott Kelly introduced the entire band (including where everyone came from). Each person received a standing ovation for their performance.
I was blown away by the intensity of this concert, every musician had their own stage presence and together they created a monumental memory to last! It still resonates throughout my body and will for quite some time. I will be talking about WOW for weeks to come! I look forward to when they return in Winter 2024!
