Penn State Extension to offer Agrivoltaics and Large-Scale Solar webinar
The Agrivoltaics and Large-Scale Solar webinar will discuss agrivoltaics as it relates to large-scale solar developments. Agrivoltaics is a term used to describe co-locating solar panels with farmland and agricultural production. Agrivoltiaics as a practice is in early development in the United States. Two common methods utilized are pollinators and grazing. The opportunities and challenges of growing pollinators and the grazing of sheep will be discussed during this session.
The College of Agricultural Sciences and Extension is also working to understand the barriers and opportunities related to co-locating solar panels with farmland and agricultural production. Researchers will discuss their efforts and provide an opportunity for stakeholders to participate in their research project through an anonymous survey.
The webinar will take place on Thursday, November 16th, at noon. The webinar is free, and pre-registration is required. Register ASAP, as space is limited to 500 participants. Registered participants will receive a recording. You can register at the following website: https://bit.ly/solarNov23. Any questions about this webinar can be directed to Joseph C. Conklin, Ed.D., at juc50@psu.edu.
