Partnership Provides Bloom with Funding and Capacity-Building Opportunities and Access to Valuable Resources to Further Serve Women Survivors of Sex Trafficking & Exploitation in the Lehigh Valley
[October 26, 2023, LEHIGH VALLEY, PA] – Bloom for Women, an organization dedicated to providing sanctuary and a continuum of care to heal, empower and employ women survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, announces that it has become a qualified partner of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. Bloom is now eligible for direct funding from the United Way and can leverage valuable resources offered by the organization.“We are proud to be a qualified partner of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley,” said Carol Andersen, CEO of Bloom for Women. “They do so much good in our community and to join forces with them will only help us further our mission to serve women survivors in the Lehigh Valley. The ability to receive funding from United Way, as well as being able to take advantage of their vast resources is an enormous opportunity for women survivors here in the Lehigh Valley and will have a direct impact on their success.”

Through this partnership, United Way will help Bloom for Women strengthen the quality and impact of its programs and services through multiple capacity-building strategies, such as leadership development opportunities for its executive director, board members and staff, as well as training and technical assistance. United Way also provides multiple avenues for financial/non-financial resources, including: program funding, partnership funding, volunteers, and donated goods.
To become qualified, Bloom for Women had to meet specific criteria to ensure it has the essential legal, governance, financial and quality measures in place as an established non-profit organization.

Bloom for Women, Inc. is a faith-based non-profit organization with the mission of providing sanctuary and a continuum of care to heal, empower and employ women survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. As part of its mission, Bloom offers emergency response, a two-year residential program, pregnant survivor services, and an independent living program in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania. Bloom follows the model and is a sister community of the remarkably successful Thistle Farms Nashville program. In addition, the Bloom Creative Studio, located in Bangor, Pa., is a social enterprise to leverage art as a healing tool and provide employment opportunities for survivors. Bloom also has a women’s upscale, resale boutique, My Sister’s Closet, based in Bethlehem, Pa., providing employment for survivors, community volunteer opportunities, and financial support for the organization.
