Event Review: Meet and Greet with Bean The Sloth

Friday was International Sloth Day, and in honor of International Sloth Day, The Lehigh Valley Zoo celebrated Bean. Bean is a Sloth that lives at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. It was a Bean meet and greet. While Bean hung upside on a tree post, the kind Zoo workers talked about Bean, and his life at the Zoo.
Bird Friendly Coffee was also there in honor of International Sloth Day. Habitat Destruction is one of the main problems for these fascinating creatures. While we visited with Bean, he ate some zucchini, he took a good look around the Pavilion room where the meet and greet was held.
The zoo keepers were kind enough to answer questions. I was advised that Bean enjoys a variety of fruits and vegetables. Bean will also eat, “the occasional insect”. This was an incredible experience. They made sure Bean was safe, they advised of no flash photography. The Lehigh Valley Zoo has a few different experiences where you can interact with the animals as part of the zoo experience. We walked around the Lehigh Valley Zoo, and saw so many other fascinating creatures. The Emu were eating lunch, the porcupine was napping along with the resident fox. The penguin were having a great day. We also visited the otters. One was swimming, and the other was lounging. The zoo keepers and volunteers were assisting with the feeding of the zoo’s tallest residents. The two beautiful giraffes. We visited the resident Eagle, the wolves, lemurs, and we fed the goats. The goats were beyond excited. They were funny. You can feed the goats from the food dispensers located next to the Goat enclosure.
The Zoo takes good care of the animals. It was an incredible experience to meet Bean the Sloth, and learn about Bean. The zoo is a great place for everyone. Families and people from all walks of life were strolling through the Zoo to take in the sights.
When you leave the Zoo you can check out the Game Preserve. The Game Preserve was one of my favorite places as a kid. It’s one of the most peaceful places. You can walk the Trexler Nature Preserve Trail, you may visit the resident Buffalo from afar of course. They do have signs for safety. You can also take in the view from an overlook section. Have a seat on the bench and take in the breathtaking view.
Boo at the Zoo is still going on, and they were setting up for the Winter Light Spectacular, which runs from November 10th to December 31st.
