MACUNGIE – Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh) today announced he will be holding special office hours dedicated to assisting older residents during the Medicare open enrollment period which runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.

Beginning Thursday, Oct 19, Mackenzie is partnering with Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight (PA MEDI) to offer free counseling to seniors at his Lower Macungie Township office, located at 3402 Brookside Road in Macungie. The sessions are limited and by appointment only. Seniors should call 610-965-9933 or 833-933-3675 (toll free) to schedule an appointment.

“We are pleased to be able to partner with PA MEDI to once again provide this free service,” said Mackenzie. “Even though Medicare is a federal program, seniors often call our office for help with the enrollment process, and we are happy to assist them.”

Seniors who schedule an appointment are asked to bring their current Medicare card, any other health insurance cards, and lists of all prescriptions and doctors with them.

PA MEDI is Pennsylvania’s free health insurance counseling program offered through the local Area Agency on Aging. PA MEDI counselors are specially trained staff and volunteers who can provide objective, easy-to-understand information at no cost to seniors. They can help them understand Medicare eligibility, enrollment, financial assistance programs, and coverage options, among other Medicare-related topics.
