(Allentown, PA, September 2023): In conjunction with the IronPigs, GOLD Credit Union proudly awarded five GOLD Community Star Awards throughout the 2023 baseball season to recognize outstanding leaders in the Lehigh Valley who are making a positive difference. These individuals are shining examples that demonstrate their unwavering commitment to go above and beyond to serve our community and make it a better place for all of those who live and work here.

This year, GOLD had the honor and privilege of recognizing the following individuals:

Tracey Johnson – Tracey is a volunteer with the Allentown YMCA Warming Station. She has been instrumental in serving our homeless community with love, compassion, and understanding, and ensuring they have food, warm showers, and a safe place to sleep.

Tim Sommer – Tim works with the Hokendauqua Eagles Park and Playground, where he serves as President of the Board, volunteers as a head coach, assistant coach, and groundskeeper. He’s an excellent mentor for the youth in our community and creates a culture that fosters sportsmanship, inclusivity, and fun.

Chris Moran – Chris is the owner and head trainer of Underdog Sports Basketball Training LLC. He created his organization as a way to stay connected to basketball and work with the youth in the Lehigh Valley to make a positive impact on their lives to empower them to grow in their skills, confidence, and health.

Sage O’Ava Tatem – Sage is the youngest entrepreneur in Allentown’s history. At just 4 years old, she developed her own business, where she creates positive affirmations bracelets that have touched the lives of over 500 members of our community.

Tami and Jeff Unger – Tami and Jeff are a husband and wife duo that exhibit a profound passion for the work they do at the Allentown YMCA to carry out its mission and make a positive difference in our community. Tami works in all aspects of childcare and transformed the Y’s program into a STAR 4 Center, has taken on the leadership role of the Warming Station, and plays a major part in the Community Feeding Program for youth and adults. Jeff has found creative ways to breathe new life into the Y’s building for all to enjoy, preps and leads the Warming Station, and ensures that the community is always taken care of.
