The Lafayette College Office of Sustainability and Landis Center for Community Engagement will present the West Ward Sale June 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Paxinosa Elementary School, 1221 Northampton St., Easton.
At the end of every spring semester, Lafayette students move out of their residence halls and off campus houses and find they have items they can not or do not want to take with them. Rather than have these items go into the landfill, Lafayette College volunteers collect and sort the gently used clothing, appliances, books, kitchen equipment, and more, in an effort called Green Move Out.
In 2022, 20,000 pounds of items were collected and brought into the West Ward in Easton for a community sale. Items sold at the West Ward Sale benefit campus-community efforts to drive a just transition to a low carbon future. This includes internships, scholarships, and educational programming centered on issues of food sovereignty, environmental justice, regenerative ecosystems, and zero waste. The various items are sold through a “pay-what-you-can” model. Remember to bring a BYO reusable bag.
