EASTON, Pa.,–The Center for Animal Health & Welfare will be holding a one- year anniversary celebration at its second location, Project PAW Community Center, on April 29 from 12-3 p.m. The free community event will include food, kids’ activities, and entry into Betty’s Corner, Project PAW’s cat lounge that serves as a satellite adoption center and temporary home to six adoptable cats.
During the event, the organization will unveil the Doggie Den, a new space within Project PAW featuring adoptable dogs on a periodic basis. It will also launch Betty’s Corner memberships for families and students. Attendees will have a chance to win a free membership. Visitors normally pay a $10 donation to relax with Betty’s Corner’s purring residents and enjoy a beverage and snack. The donation helps to fund animal care and community programs. The new memberships provide another option for those that visit regularly.
Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure will speak at the event around 12:30 p.m. and present the organization with a certificate recognizing the facility’s milestone and service to the community. In 2022, The Center for Animal Health & Welfare received a NORCO Grow Grant from Northampton County for Project PAW.
Located at 452 Northampton Street in Downtown Easton, Pa., Project PAW opened in April 2022 to expand the range and reach of The Center for Animal Health & Welfare’s services to the community. Over the last year, it provided low- and no-cost vaccine and microchip clinics and pet food bank days, ran school supply drives and hosted story and craft hours and community yoga. In addition to the grant and Betty’s Corner, proceeds from its thrift store, ReSale to the Rescue, also helped to fund its operations and programs.
“We are excited to celebrate our one-year anniversary with the community that we serve and with the introduction of our Doggie Den, help generate even more awareness about the adoptable animals in our care. We also look forward to continuing to expand our community programs with funds from the new memberships we’ll be offering,” said Mike McMullen, Board President.
Project PAW’s one-year anniversary is the second milestone for the organization this year. In March, the center celebrated its 110th birthday. This year also marks 20 years since it became no-kill.
