Earth Day in the Park is run by the City’s Bureau of Recycling & Solid Waste in honor of the Global Earth Day holiday to increase awareness around environmental protection. The event will offer “green” games and activities for attendees, education around environmental stewardship, and include local eco-friendly vendors. More information can be found at www.allentownpa.gov/earthday.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Allentown’s weekend-long celebration will offer aquatics, basketball, football, and entertainment, and will include Black owned businesses, food vendors, and fireworks. More information can be found at www.allentownpa.gov/juneteenth.

The Fourth of July is a federal holiday commemorating the declaration of independence in the United States. The City’s festivities will include live performances and fireworks at the stadium. Vendors and games will be located at the entrance to the stadium on Linden Street. Active-duty military and veterans will be honored during the event. More information can be found at www.allentownpa.gov/fireworks.

Classics and Cruisers on Hamilton is an event unique to the City and recreates the renaissance of the ‘70s and early ‘80s cruising Allentown. Attendees will be able to admire hundreds of classic cars staged in downtown Allentown. Registration forms and updates can be found at www.allentownpa.gov/cruisinghamilton.

Fishing & Fun in the Park is a new event run by the Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with the Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living (LVCIL) to provide a full day of outdoor recreational opportunity for people of all abilities at no cost. The inclusive event will offer trout stocking of the Little Lehigh Creek, casting instruction, a fish filet station, arts and crafts, games, informational stations, and a visit from the LVHN MedEvac helicopter.

Hallo-weekend celebrations include three events: City-wide Trick-or-Treat night on October 27, the Halloween Walking Parade on October 28, and a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on October 29. The 2023 parade is a modern approach to the traditional parade structure, with a complete transformation of the downtown. The event will include trick-or-treat stations from local organizations as well as school bands and dance groups. Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that honors the deceased. Allentown’s event will be held in partnership with ICDI and the Baum School of Art, and will offer music, dance, and cultural celebration. More information can be found at www.allentownpa.gov/halloweekend.

The 27th annual Lights in the Parkway drive through display transforms over a mile of Lehigh Parkway into a winter wonderland with thousands of dazzling lights. Sponsorship opportunities, ticket information, and updates can be found at www.allentownpa.gov/lightsintheparkway.
