“EVERY BRILLIANT THING,” a theatrical production by Duncan Macmillan, returns to Monroe County in November.
The Story: You’re seven years old. Mom’s in the hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.” She finds it hard to be happy. So, you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world.
Everything that’s worth living for. Soon, the list will take on a life of its own. The storyteller shares an honest, frank, and funny look at suicide awareness and self-care.
After a successful pilot project held in the Fall of 2021, Pocono Arts Council announces that East Stroudsburg native and professional actor, Michael Doherty* will return in November for two community performances of this extraordinary piece of theater. The show will be held at The School of Visual and Performing Arts, located at 20 Delaware Ave, in Delaware Water Gap, PA on Sat., Nov. 12 at 2 pm and 8 pm. The performances are free for high school and college students with ID. General seating is

For two weeks prior to the community performance, Mr. Doherty will be an artist-in-residence at East Stroudsburg North and South High Schools, working directly with theater/drama students and performing the show several times during the residency. The residency is supported by ArtsQuest’s Arts in Education partnership through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. The show was staged locally in the fall of 2021 at various venues and schools in our region. After the production was presented as a faculty in-service, one Stroudsburg High School educator commented, “This was just so amazing, one of the best in-services that I’ve attended in my career; it was engaging and yet extremely informative, providing information about mental health and its impact throughout one’s life.
