(ALLENTOWN, PA) – The Boys and Girls Club of Allentown will receive a $250,000 state grant to assist the organization in fulfilling its role in helping the youth and young adults of Allentown succeed, according to Senator Pat Browne (Senate District – 16), Chairman of the Senate’s Appropriations Committee.

Browne secured these funds through the 2022-2023 state budget.

“For decades, the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown has provided a safe and stable place for our city’s children to grow and realize their potential,” Senator Browne said. “Their mission has changed thousands of lives and I am proud to secure these funds to ensure that they have the resources necessary to build upon their mission and excel well into the future.”

The grant will be used to fund several capital and building renovation projects that have been on the organization’s priority list for many years. Projects include remodeling work at the Sixth Street Clubhouse and renovations to the Turner Street Clubhouse’s kitchen.

These improvements will help the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown meet its mission of serving the youth of the city.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to complete these projects now with the help of Sen. Browne, “ Deborah Fries-Jackson, Boys and Girls Club Allentown, Chief Executive Officer, said. “These funds will enable us to dedicate more of our other donations to programming that will directly impact the lives of the area’s children.”

For over 85 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Allentown provides programing for the youth living in the city of Allentown, serving approximately 1,100 kids annually. Their mission is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. They aim to reach children at an early age and provide safe and positive activities, while creating compelling alternatives to youth crime, gang membership, drugs, and other negative influences.

The Boys and Girls Club of Allentown strives to provide a safe and stable place that ensures the physical and emotional safety of young people by promoting their development and instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, influence and belonging. When this strategy is fully implemented, self-esteem is enhanced and an environment is created which helps their members achieve their full potential.
