HARRISBURG, Sept. 20 – State Rep. Jeanne McNeill today announced the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved a $250,000 Flood Mitigation Program grant for the Borough of Catasauqua.
“This funding will help to protect the residents of the Borough of Catasauqua from the impacts and dangers of future flooding,” said McNeill, D-Lehigh. “I am honored to support this project and help the borough make these preemptive flooding measures and provide a greater peace of mind for residents.”
According to McNeill, the borough will use the funding to mitigate flooding near Lehigh Valley International Airport by making necessary water drainage improvements along Tioga, Williams, Main and Erie streets and Pennsylvania Avenue. The project will involve installing a new network of storm pipes and manholes.
Funded through Act 13 of 2012, FMP provides funding for statewide initiatives to assist with flood mitigation projects.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
