Allentown, PA – A patriotic mural commissioned by the Allentown Mural Arts and the Allentown Parking Authority for the new 6-story Maple Street Parking Deck in downtown Allentown is now complete. The 10,000-square-foot mural, the largest in the City of Allentown, was painted on the Maple Street side of the deck by Dripped On Productions Co-CEOs Denton Burrows and Jonathan Neville using pollution-absorbing paint.
Dripped On Productions, of New York City, is an art production company specializing in murals and street art for developments, events, and businesses, such as MasterCard, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and ArtsQuest. In 2019, the company curated three murals painted on Allentown’s ArtsWalk. Two of the murals are on the Allentown Parking Authority’s garage. Dripped On Productions CEO and cofounder Denton Burrows earned a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Lehigh University.
“We are proud to have been selected to do our second mural in downtown Allentown,” said Burrows. “We loved the Parking Authority’s patriotic theme and are proud of our winning design. Dripped On Productions looks forward to continuing to beautify and transform major parts of downtown Allentown with professionally executed murals and works to brighten, beautify, and inspire a historical and diverse city.”
The revolutionary paint being used is non-toxic, zero-VOC, and water-based, infused with an enhanced mineral that attracts and neutralizes harmful air pollutants, including VOCs and airborne chemicals, as well as carbon dioxide for five to seven years. This mural will be the functional equivalent of planting 20 trees on the street, and it will continuously absorb emissions from vehicle activity on Maple Street and in the parking deck.
“Murals add beauty to our everyday experience in Allentown,” said Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk. “We need more partnerships like this one to continue to improve quality of life for our great community. It creates a sense of unity, links our outdoor spaces together, and inspires people the way only art can.”
“The Parking Authority is honored to be partnering with Allentown Mural Arts on this project,” said Allentown Parking Authority Executive Director John Morgan. “We had a ton of great submissions from artists all over the world but really thought Dripped On Productions’ entry captured our patriotic theme the best.”
The Allentown Parking Authority plans to open the Maple Street parking deck in the very near future.
