Capital Blue Cross recently awarded Lehigh County-based KidsPeace a $50,000 educational improvement grant. It was the largest of Capital’s latest round of critical donations to the community; the health insurer recently distributed 11 educational improvement grants – totaling $190,000 – to regional nonprofits.
Capital’s grant to KidsPeace will go toward the Donley Therapeutic Education Center, part of KidsPeace’s Orchard Hills campus in Orefield.
“We are very grateful to Capital Blue Cross for this generous donation,” said KidsPeace President and CEO Michael Slack. “It’s a true testament to their commitment to our community and the well-being of the children we help. Each year, the Donley TEC Center provides hundreds of children in KidsPeace’s inpatient and residential programs the opportunity to advance their educational progress while in our care. Gifts like Capital Blue Cross’s make it possible for us to continue to offer children in crisis the educational resources they need to thrive in the future, while they heal today.”
Susan Hubley, Capital Blue Cross vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility, said Capital “understands the critical role KidsPeace and other nonprofit educational agencies play in our region.”
“We’re proud to partner with KidsPeace in their efforts to provide support and education to children in crisis through the our educational improvement grants,” Hubley said. “Our support of community organizations through these grants helps us honor our commitment to improve the overall health and well-being of our communities.”
