The City of Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation will begin holding monthly lifeguard certification classes starting next month to expand opportunities for individuals to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications.

Classes will run on the following dates:

November 5-7, 2021

December 3-5, 2021

January 7-9, 2022

February 4-6, 2022

March 4-6, 2022

April 1-3, 2022

May 6-8, 2022

 

Classes are open to anyone at least 15-years of age. Registration for a class is online at www.allentownparksandrec.com

“Students can take advantage of any of these seven classes to earn their certification and qualify for a good summer job at a city pool,” said Mayor Ray O’Connell. “The opportunity is there to work steadily from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.”

The city of Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation Department has lifeguarding job opportunities available for the 2022 summer season with a starting pay rate of $14.00 per hour. Lifeguard applicants must be at least 16 years of age.  Persons interested in applying for lifeguarding positions with the city of Allentown for the 2022 season are urged to visit www.allentownpa.gov/Human-Resources/Employment-Openings. and apply today!
