America’s Automotive Trust Honors David L. Madeira for his Vision, Commitment and Leadership

(Sept. 30, 2021) – America’s Automotive Trust announced David L. Madeira as the 2021 Nicola Bulgari Award recipient at their inaugural Apex Dinner held in Birmingham, MI to kick off the North American International Auto Show’s Motor Bella.

The Nicola Bulgari Award – named after the world-famous Vice Chairman of BVLGARI, renowned car collector, and board member of the Trust – is personally selected by Mr. Bulgari. It is presented annually to recognize an individual’s efforts to promote America’s automotive heritage.

“David is an exceptional leader in the effort to secure America’s automotive heritage,” said Gary Gartner, Director of The NB Center for American Automotive Heritage, who presented the award on behalf of Mr. Bulgari. “His commitment to helping ensure collector vehicles are recognized for their important cultural role and have a place in our society, both now and in the future, is exactly the type of dedication this award was designed to recognize.”

Madeira, who served 15-years as the CEO of LeMay – America’s Car Museum, and later for America’s Automotive Trust – has dedicated much of his life’s work and passion to cars and motorcycles. During that time, he oversaw the initial fundraising and construction of LeMay – America’s Car Museum, the largest automotive museum in the United States. Under his leadership, the Museum’s success served as the anchor point for a vision that became America’s Automotive Trust.

“David’s leadership has provided a unifying force to streamline resources, increase collaboration and bring together like-minded organizations working towards a similar goal to perpetuate car culture,” said Tabetha Hammer, CEO & President of America’s Automotive Trust. “The job of ensuring a strong future of driving and the enjoyment of vehicles is never done. It cannot be accomplished by any singular group or effort – it’s going to take a global community. The vision of America’s Automotive Trust, originally set by David, is to build that community.”

Madeira joins a prestigious group of prior Nicola Bulgari Award winners which include Jay Leno; former GM Designer Ed Welburn; former Hemming’s publisher Jim Menneto, RM Group founder Rob Myers, NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick; CEO of Hagerty McKeel Hagerty; founder of the Simeone Automotive Museum Dr. Frederick Simeone; Amelia Island Concours founder Bill Warner; former Chairman of the Gilmore Car Museum Bill Parfet, and Executive Director of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association and Motor Bella Rod Alberts.
