The Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct a free fall flag football clinic for Allentown youth.
A 5-week flag football clinic for youth ages 3 through 10 who attend school within Allentown will be offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning October 13 and running through November 11 at Jordan Park Field #3.
The flag football clinic is an opportunity to learn the skills of football in a relaxed, fun, and friendly environment. Pre-registration is required at www.allentownparksandrec.com. Parents will need to create an account, receive approval, and then register their child before the start of the program. The program will follow Pennsylvania Department of Health and CDC guidelines to make activities as safe and fun as possible for all participants.
Mayor Ray O’Connell said, “We are always trying to expand recreation offerings for children of the city. Football is king in the Lehigh Valley. The clinic sessions are an opportunity to get kids started in a sport that many have really come to love.”
“A safe alternative to tackle football, flag football is a great way to teach children teamwork, sportsmanship, integrity and more while enjoying the health benefits of playing outdoors,” said Karen El-Chaar, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Jordan Park is located at 201 N. 6th Street Ext. 18102. Jordan Park Field #3 is at the north end of the park.
