Annual Walla Gazoo Golf Tournament To Benefit Those Struggling in the Lehigh Valley
Bethlehem, PA (August 9, 2021) – The Walla Gazoo Golf Tournament has sold out this year in a stroke of luck for the local businesses the fundraiser benefits. At 144 golfers, the most you can have in a tournament with one shotgun, that makes 2021 a record sell-out year. The average is about 132 golfers, but last year, there were only 100 because of limitations due to COVID restrictions. Angela DelGrosso of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce says, “I think post covid people are just so ready to get back out there. We’re seeing it across the board with all our events.” Businesses in Bethlehem and the greater Lehigh Valley area have been hit hard by the pandemic and outdoor events like these are just the thing to help get them back up to par.
A Time-Honored Tradition
The Walla Gazoo fore fathers started the tournament over 50 years ago. Lehigh Valley’s oldest golf tournament is an event where golfers get out to enjoy the day free from the stresses of the office and casually network with others. Over thirty-five sponsors signed up to help make the day tee-rific for the golfers. The outing will take place at the Bethlehem Golf Club whose Monocacy course is a Par 17, 18-hole championship golf course established in 1956.
Chamber Events Are More Important Than Ever
The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event, which helps support the business community. It is the largest chamber in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and the 6th largest in the nation. A board of directors, whose mission is to advocate, preserve and advance business and community interests in the area, represents the member businesses. This Chamber works closely with city administrations to further economic growth in the Lehigh Valley. It runs grant programs, strategic awareness plans, and events, which are vital due to the loss of revenue brought on by the pandemic. “We are looking forward to getting local businesses back into full swing,” says DelGrosso.
