Grant Made by Foundations Community Partnership to Support Marketing Efforts of Chalfont Office

(July 8, 2021) – KidsPeace announced that it has received a $4,000 grant from Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) to support marketing efforts aimed at recruiting foster parents in areas of southeastern Pennsylvania served by its Chalfont office.

The grant is part of FCP’s efforts to support community services which have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

KidsPeace plans to use the funding to increase community awareness of the need for foster families, especially for sibling groups, older youth and youth with moderate to severe mental health needs. In addition, families whose composition includes a parent who can be home and available during school hours are needed if schools continue remote or hybrid learning models.

KidsPeace says the funds will allow it to reach a wider population, increasing the number of foster families and allowing more youth with histories of trauma and mental health needs to be placed in loving, supportive foster homes.

In its grant application, KidsPeace noted that foster care is among the areas that saw significant impacts as a result of the pandemic.  The number of children entering foster care decreased in large part because of school closures, which reduced the opportunity to detect warning signs of abuse and neglect. In addition, COVID-19 made recruiting of foster families even more challenging; potential foster parents struggled with financial burdens and concerns over exposure to infected individuals, and as a result became hesitant to contact foster care providers to express interest.

Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) is a non-profit, private grant-making foundation established in 2007 to support the behavioral health and human service needs of children, young adults, and their families in Bucks County, Pa. In response, the organization provides grants and technical assistance, scholarships, and professional development as well as service-learning opportunities through collaborative partnerships.

Since 1882, KidsPeace has been building on its expertise to give hope, help and healing to children, adults and those who love them. Through its comprehensive range of residential treatment programs; accredited educational services; unique psychiatric hospital and foster care and community-based programs, KidsPeace is dedicated to helping people connect, transform and overcome their challenges to ensure a stable future, transition to adulthood and gain independence. Since its doors opened, nearly 300,000 children have participated in one of the multitude of programs KidsPeace offers.
