Lehigh Valley, PA – The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute (“LVJI”) today announced that it has launched a Spanish language version of its website:
www.LVJI.org at es.LVJI.org. LVJI views the launch as part of its mission to provide accurate information to all of the Lehigh Valley community regarding local criminal justice issues.
“We want all of our Lehigh Valley communities to have access to the information which we are developing. The launch of a Spanish language website is an important step toward the inclusion of all communities,” LVJI Executive Director Joseph Welsh explained.
LVJI Board member Luis Perez, who has been very active in working with Lehigh County and municipal governments in the development of re-entry programs, as well as youth diversion programs, agreed. “All too often the Hispanic community falls victim to the “Justice System,” we walk naYvely thinking there is no hope, nor help, or resources. Much of this is in part due to
misrepresentation and the lack of information provided to us in our native language. The LVJI Spainsh edition website brings a greater understanding of the Justice System by bridging that gap and allowing us the chance to understand and be included,” Perez said.
The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute was formed last year to address criminal justice issues specifically in the Lehigh Valley, from an academic perspective. The Institute is engaged in a multi-year deep study of he local criminal justice systems, as well as immediate work through various issue committees, such as policing, bail and re-entry programs.
LVJI ANUNCIA EL LANZAMIENTO DE SU SITIO WEB EN ESPANOL
Lehigh Valley, PA – El Instituto de Justicia de Lehigh Valley (“LVJI”) anuncio hoy que ha lanzado una version en espafiol de su sitio web: www.LVJI.org en es.LVJI.org. LVJI considera el lanzamiento como parte de su mision de proporcionar informacion precisa a toda la comunidad de Lehigh Valley con respecto a los problemas locales de justicia penal.
“Queremos que todas nuestras comunidades · de Lehigh Valley tengan acceso a la informacion que estamos desarrollando. El lanzamiento de un sitio web en espafiol es un paso importante hacia la inclusion de todas las comunidades”, explico el director ejecutivo de LVJI, Joseph Welsh.
Luis Perez, miembro de la Junta de LVJI, qmen ha sido muy activo trabajando con el condado de Lehigh y los gobiemos municipales en el desarrollo de programas de reingreso, asi como programas de diversion para j6venes, estuvo de acuerdo. “Con demasiada frecuencia, la comunidad hispana es victima del “Sistema de Justicia,” caminamos ingenuamente pensando que no hay esperanza,
ni ayuda o recursos. Mucho de esto se debe en parte a la tergiversaci6n y la falta de informaci6n que nos proporciona en nuestro nativo idioma. El sitio web de la edici6n LVJI Espanola brinda una mayor comprensi6n del sistema de justicia al cerrar esa brecha y brindamos la oportunidad de comprender y ser incluidos.” Perez dijo.
El Instituto de Justicia de Lehigh Valley se form6 el afio pasado para abordar problemas de justicia penal especificamente en el Lehigh Valley, desde una perspectiva academica. El Instituto se dedica a un estudio profundo de varios afios de los sistemas de justicia penal locales, asi como a un trabajo inmediato a traves de varios comites tematicos, como los programas de vigilancia, fianza y reingreso.
