On behalf of the Veterans & Military Council of The Chamber, we encourage our members throughout all the communities we serve to remember the importance of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is an important day for all of us as it serves as a reminder to honor and remember those men and women who have valiantly fought for and served this incredible country and made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives.
Here are some ways you, along with family, friends, and colleagues, can keep the memory of our fallen servicemembers alive in our memories and hearts.
Fly the American Flag.
Proudly display the American flag at home or at your business.
Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance.
In an effort to recognize Memorial Day as the noble holiday it is meant to be, the National Moment of Remembrance, established by Congress, asks Americans wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day to pause in an act of national unity (duration: one minute).
Visit a veterans’ memorial or cemetery.
Or, you can take a virtual tour of the Vietnam Wall, World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and more.
Thank A Veteran.
While Memorial Day is a time for remembering and honoring our fallen servicemembers, it’s also a time to thank all members of our military both past and present! Thank them for all they have done to protect our country and our freedoms.
Watch the Memorial Day special from Washington, D.C.
The National Memorial Day Parade returns in 2021! In a very special made-for-television event, the parade returns to Washington, DC – along with New York City, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and cities and towns across the country – in a salute to the men and women who have sacrificed for our nation.
Create a care package for a servicemember.
You can make a difference and thank a servicemember who’s currently serving with a care package. Get ideas for what to include in a package here. Check out: OperationGratitude.com for more information about writing letters or sending care packages to those currently deployed.
