The Lemon Grass Café Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting
Last night from 5-7pm the Lemon Grass Café hosted, with assistance from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, their grand opening! The ribbon cutting ceremony was at 5:30pm and was honored to have Emmaus Borough Mayor Lee Ann Gilbert there on site to present a proclamation. Additionally, this is the first ribbon cutting the Emmaus Main Street Partners have hosted since new representatives have taken office. Representative Milou Mackenzie was unable to attend herself but Communications Liaison Anna Stackhouse was on-site to celebrate and honor the business with a proclamation from State Representative Milou Mackenzie.
Varee Var is the owner of the Lemon Grass Café. Varee moved to the Lehigh Valley in 2009 to be with her family. She worked in behavioral healthcare field as a clinical and mobile therapist for over a decade before deciding to open her own travel franchise, Dream Vacations, to have more flexibility to care for her father who later passed away of brain cancer in 2019. As a travel consultant and travel franchise owner, she was able to make her dream of traveling to destinations around the world that had been on her bucket list a reality. Her passion has been with food and travel for as long as she can remember. She also enjoys volunteering when she can at local community organizations and for causes she cares about such as Meals on Wheels and the Allentown Rotary Club. At the end of 2020 Varee decided to team up with her mother and open the Lemon Grass Café so that they can share Thai, Cambodian, and Malaysian inspired food with food lovers in the Lehigh Valley. Menu entrees include Chicken Curry Rice bowls with pickled vegetables. Vegetarian and Vegan options include Fresh Spring Rolls, Special Tofu Rice Bowl and Curried Vegetables Rice Bowl. She especially wanted the café to offer healthy vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options in addition to offering organic loose leaf teas and spices for those who are more health-conscious. Varee is excited to share her love for cooking with lemongrass and bringing simply good and healthy Southeast Asian food to everyone here in the Lehigh Valley.
