More than a dozen government and nonprofit entities partner to encourage vigilance during the pandemic with #MaskUpLV campaign.
Allentown, PA March 9, 2021 – United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV), along with regional partners, encourages the Lehigh Valley to stay vigilant during COVID-19 with the grassroots #MaskUpLV campaign.
This multi-media campaign localizes and amplifies the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s #MaskUpPA messaging to help stop and slow the transmission of the virus. Even as vaccines roll out, wearing a mask in public remains one of the most effective measures to curb the spread of disease and help this pandemic subside. Recognizing the COVID-19 challenges present in our region’s diverse communities, the campaign was created by a cross-sector team of community members known as the Strategic Response Team, which partnered with trusted messengers to help with the communication.
“A full year into this pandemic, COVID-19 continues to disproportionately impact members of the BIPOC community. As a community, we must remain dedicated to protecting each other,” remarks Erin Connelly, Senior Director of Impact, UWGLV and member of the Strategic Response Team. “Every community member plays a role in stopping the spread. As this campaign expands, we hope the messaging makes an even greater impact and reaches new audiences.”
Funding for the initiative is provided by Northampton and Lehigh Counties via CARES Act funding from the Commonwealth of PA, as well as the Bethlehem and Allentown Health Bureaus. Additional support is provided by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Strategic Response Team partners include St. Luke’s University Health Network, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley, Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley, Ortiz Ark Foundation, G-Pez Consulting, Northampton County, Greater Easton Development Partnership, Red Cross, Allentown School District, Volunteer Center and the Carbon County Community Foundation.
The campaign includes videos and testimonials featuring trusted messengers from Allentown School District, Bethlehem Area School District, Boys and Girls Club of Bethlehem, Boys and Girls Club of Easton, City of Allentown, City of Easton, Cohesion Network, Cops N’ Kids, Easton Area School District, G-Pez Consulting, Greater Shiloh Church, Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley, Lehigh County, Northampton County, Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley and Zero Youth Violence. Messengers helped create the new content, including videos and Spanish graphics, to better reach all Lehigh Valley communities. Easton-based Lycan Media directed and produced all content, including more than a dozen images and videos.
Lehigh Valley organizations are encouraged to share #MaskUpLV content educating their audiences on proper mask care, Pennsylvania mask requirements and ways to remain safe from the coronavirus.
