Galleries to reopen in new location in the Allentown Arts Walk with Exhibit Featuring Paintings by Broadway Makeup Artist
ALLENTOWN, PA – For the first time since March, the Fine Art Galleries at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center will reopen this Friday in a pop-up retail gallery space in the Allentown Arts Walk, directly across from the Downtown Allentown Market.
The gallery will reopen with an exciting exhibit called #MASCFEM featuring new paintings by Broadway makeup artist, Joe Dulude II. The artist is one of Broadway’s top makeup artists and has been designing makeup for Broadway, Off-Broadway and the West End since 2003. Some of his iconic designs can be seen in shows such as Wicked, Beetlejuice, Spongebob Squarepants the Musical and more. He has also worked on several television and film productions including most recently Shrine, Frills and Castle Rock Season 2. He designed and received an Emmy nomination for his work on Jesus Christ Superstar, Live on NBC. He is an educator, fine artist working in a variety of mediums and a performer and this is his debut fine art exhibit.
“#MascFem seeks to explore the juxtaposition of the masculine and the feminine inside each of us” said Dulude. “In this series I have used the inspiration from twenty-one drag queens, drag kings and non-binary performers to create a colorful, vibrant world that questions what is masculine, what is feminine and what is beauty.”
