PBS39’s health talk show is dedicated to regional health concerns and will air September 5 at 3:30 p.m.

Bethlehem, PA. – September 2, 2020 – Beginning in September, PBS39, in partnership with St. Luke’s University Health Network, will launch A Su Salud: Cheers to Good Health, a weekly English language talk show dedicated to covering a variety of health issues and the way COVID-19 has had an impact, particularly for the growing Lehigh Valley Latino community. A Su Salud will air Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. and re-air on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

The show is hosted by Community Correspondent for 91.3 WLVR News and Es Tiempo host Genesis Ortega, who speaks with medical experts and patients on their experiences. She will also talk with Lehigh Valley Public Media Health Reporter Brittany Sweeney to get her take on how the community is affected.

In the premiere episode, Ortega will speak with St. Luke University Health Network’s Doctor Israel Zighelboim, who will help to identify the factors that may cause COVID-19 to disproportionately affect Latinos. Likewise, Sweeney will speak with Bethlehem Health Bureau Director Kristen Wenrich who will discuss early findings on these unbalanced infection rates in the city. Other guests include City Councilwoman Cynthia Mota and an Allentown resident who has recovered from COVID-19.

“With over 100,000 Latinos residing in the Lehigh Valley, it’s important to acknowledge the need for this type of local heath programming in our community,” said Yoni Greenbaum, Chief Content Officer.

Future topics covered include: heart health, plastic surgery, diabetes, postpartum depression, obesity and colon cancer.

A Su Salud: Cheers to Good Health will air on PBS39 and will be available via livestream at PBS39.org.

This program is produced in partnership with St. Luke’s University Health Network and funded in part by the Google Journalism Emergency Relief Fund
