A conversation to explore how police can maintain public trust
Bethlehem, PA. – June 24, 2020 – PBS39 will premiere a one hour program, Community Conversation: Policing the Police, on Tuesday, June 30 at 7 p.m. In this conversation, host Monica Evans and guests will explore how the police can maintain the public trust, especially in the midst of current events.
“The community is calling out. We have a platform to have these conversations, and it’s the perfect time to talk through them. Moreover, this program perfectly aligns with our vision and mission; to engage, inspire and educate,” said Monica Evans, Executive Producer.
The police motto is, “To Protect and Serve”, but many in our community believe that our police forces are falling short of that standard. This discussion will serve to address public discourse and evoke productive conversation. Topics will include: Defunding the police, and what it means; Determining what reforms are necessary; Weapons training versus deescalation and ‘soft skills’ training; Tracking police disciplinary actions.
Panelists joining the discussion include:
- Glenn Granitz – Allentown Police Chief
- Ettore Angelo – Criminal Defense Attorney
- Mark Pinsley – Lehigh County Controller
- Dr. Hasshan Batts – Promise Neighborhoods
- John Scott – Pennsylvania State Police Trooper
