Ban begins 2:00 PM March 10th

Although there are currently no reported cases of Coronavirus, or COVID-19, inside the Northampton County prison, Director of Corrections James C. Kostura, in a proactive move, has banned volunteers, visitors and tours. The prison will contact its volunteer staff through emails, phone calls and website postings to notify them of the ban. Additionally, visitors can be notified by the residents themselves along with website postings. Individuals who still wish to visit prison residents may do so through phone, mail and video visits transmitted on tablets.
All programs, such as L.E.A.P. a job training program, will continue. The Community Corrections work release program will maintain its current schedule with no changes. Also, furloughs and the Community Volunteer Program will function normally unless the situation changes. The prison will continue its recreation schedule for residents in reference to Title 37 guidelines.
Prison staff and officers will continue to work their regular shifts. Changes in staffing will be considered should a health problem arise. Court professionals, attorneys, and spiritual advisors will have access to the residents housed inside the institution. If necessary, video court will be made available if conditions change for attorneys or prison residents.
